HomeUncategorizedColorado Bonsai – Forsythia Tree’s Make Great Bonsai

I have always liked Forsythia bushes and wanted one as a Bonsai. Since it would be nearly impossible for me to find an old gnarly half dead shrub in Colorado I decided I would have to settle for a nursery center shrub instead. I have to tell you finding a Forsythia nursery shrub that would make a good Bonsai is very difficult. Nothing like a challenge. I have a total of 4 bushes that are in various stages of development. I have created a Forsythia page under Deciduous Trees. There is some great information on Forsythia’s and some great photo’s of Forsythia Bonsai. I will be making separate pages of each on my trees and will be showing them off as they are developed.

Here is a photo of my latest find. It was single trunk Forsythia. I have cut off all but 2 of the largest limbs on the tree. It has been styled and will be allowed to grow unchecked, unless a large new limp appears. That will be cut off as well as any suckers.
