Colorado Bonsai – Petrified Wood as Viewing Stones
Here is a very nice article titled “Petrified Wood as Viewing Stones” by viewing stone expert Dr. Tom, Elias. I like Petrified Wood for Viewing Stones. There is a lot petrified wood along the front range of the Rocky Mountains. Parker and Franktown area is rich in petrified wood. Try visiting any new construction areas where they are putting in new roads, foundations, pipes etc. Just look for it lying right on top of the ground, sometimes just a tip is sticking out the soil. Carry a sturdy screw driver with you to pry up and dig the stone out. Petrified wood comes in my different colors shapes. All white petrified wood can be found in the Franktown, Co. area. Another source would be Commercial Landscaping companies when they bring in Petrified Wood by the pallet. I have added the article to the Suiseki page.
