I have a Cotinus Coggygria – Purple Smoke Bush that I have had for around 11 years now. The tree was purchased for $5 at a box store. The only thing the tree had going for it was nice nebari. A heavy wet snow storm styled my tree and reduced the height of the tree from 6-7 feet down to around 13 inches. Snapped the trunk right in two the storm did. So the tree has been recovering and was wired last year and the wire removed in Feb. 2020 and rewired. This is going to make a great Bonsai in a couple more years.
