Colorado Bonsai – Populus tremuloides – Aspen Bonsai
I have created a new page for Aspen Tree Bonsai. Aspen (Populus tremuloides) trees typically do not make a good Bonsai tree. They are very hard to collect due to the fact the root systems are all connected to each other. So digging one up is very hard and they usually do not live long enough. I have a small Aspen Bonsai that started life off as a cutting from a very white barked tree. Rocky Mountain Bonsai Society member Jerry Morris grafted the cutting to some type of root stock. Jerry named this cutting “Snow White” due to how white the bark is. The new page is located under Deciduous Trees and Bonsai Tree Information pages.
Hi! Is there somewhere that I can purchase an Aspen Bonsai? Thanks!
I am not aware of anyone selling Aspen Bonsai trees. You might try ordering a commercial tree from some place like Forest Farms and try making your own Bonsai tree. Wild trees are generally hard to collect and keep alive. Yard planted Aspen trees generally die off when planted at lower levels along the front range. They get a canker disease and slowly die.
