This is an update to my post titled “Colorado Bonsai – Over Watered Trees and A HOW TO ON H2O2“. You can read about my tree in the link above, a huge and rare Lantana. My 27 year old Lantana is well on the way to recovering from being overwatered. I did repot the tree and removed most of the soil and cut the roots back and put in free draining soil. I did treat the tree several times with Rhizotonic which is a root stimulator. The tree was misted numerous times a day in hopes of keeping the wilting foliage alive. The misting did keep the leaves alive for a long time and most of them finally turned black and died. The leaves on top of the tree stayed green and are now growing. There are new buds forming and growing all over the branches of the tree. Some buds are even extending now. I must admit I thought the tree was a goner and thought about stopping my attempts to save it. But I kept watering it when it dried out. This did take some time to do (2 Months), so do not give up. I am so grateful I hung in there with the tree.

I cannot say for a fact that Hydrogen Peroxide or even Rhizotonic saved my tree or not? But what the heck, if its an important tree what do you have to lose?
