The pot on my collected Pinus Contorta – Shore Pine broke on one side and I tried gluing it back to together with an gel epoxy glue but that did not work out. The epoxy was not a gel and ran right on through the pot. I then spotted a crack on the bottom of the pot only to find it ran around to the other side of the pot and the pot was now hopeless. So I had to re-pot this in Jan. ready or not. I selected a cascade pot made by David Bennett and proceded to re-pot the tree in the driveway.
Getting the tree out of the old pot was no problem since the pot was basically broke all the way around. Getting the tree into the new pot was more difficult. Most of the old soil was kept in tack and I re-positioned the tree with the trunk that will be come the new apex right in the middle of the pot. I added new Bonsai soil and finally wired the tree into the pot. Now we wait and see how the tree responds to be re-potted in January, 2020. It is going to be fun designing the tree.
I decided to style the tree after waiting about a month and a half. I did not remove much of the old soil when I was forced to re-pot the tree on 02-02-2020. The tree was kept in its cascade style chosen by the original owner of the yamadori tree. I did re-position the tree when I re-potted the tree earlier. I kind of layered the tree branches the best I could and then made an apex out of the branches on the main trunk growing upward. I think the apex needs more work on it, but for now I will leave it alone. New 03-23-2020
