I discovered a rather interesting Cotoneaster on the Far Reaches Farm website that looked pretty good to me. It seem to be very colorful and it did grow very tall, more of a creeping style Cotoneaster. I thought one might make for a great cascade Bonsai over the course of several years. So I decided to buy one but that they were all sold out. I signed up for an email notification and was rewarded with an email saying they were available. I bought one and I it arrived in the spring right on scheduled. Now the Cotoneaster did not look it does in the photos below as it was just a starter plant. I picked out a Chuck Iker cascade Bonsai pot for the tree. I thought the colors in the pot would eventually look good with all the red berries. In the pot she went in the spring and was watered and fertilized with Plant Tone organic fert. and after 3-4 weeks it started growing and I let it grow where ever it wanted to. It has now grown very long and the top of the tree has enlarged and looks like it is a twin trunk now. I am letting the new branches there grow and will wire them up to form an apex as they get better. I think this is a fun little tree and is going to get better with time. I estimate this starter plant has quadrupled in size since I recieved it. It looks like the tree is just starting to change into its fall colors. It has one berry on it, it might be from last year to! The white on the leaves are from hard water.
I purchased 3 more of them to plant on a lacerock stone.
