The Denver Botanic Gardens has a really nice Chinese Quince in their collection. I like the bark and leaves on the tree a lot. They are both quite different then Japanese Quince. The bark on the Chinese Quince is molted with several different colors all rolled into one beautiful trunk. The leaves appear to be a nice medium green color, rather thick and almost round shape to them. Its a fine combination and really striking when it is in bloom with pink flowers.
Right now the tree has just started producing new leaves after spending the winter in the Gardens cold greenhouse. The greenhouse is not allowed to go below 50 degrees in the winter. No flower buds at this time (March).
