My favorite Chaenomeles – Quince is the “Toyo-Nishiki” multi-colored tree. The flowers range from white, pink and Red. Red is the most difficult colors to obtain on your tree. I have built a new page for my “Toyo-Nishiki” documenting its progress from a Home Depot tree to a semi-cascade tree. It is located on the Quince page, under Deciduous Bonsai. The tree keeps getting better every year. This year it has over 50 flower buds on it, all opening at different times extending the bloom time. This tree proved to be very difficult to bend the large trunk/branches. There is a nice story about one of the returning Japanese trained Bonsai Masters on the page as well.
