I found a really neat perennial viola called “Silver Gem Prostrate Blue Violet” on a mail order nursery companies website. So I ordered one and it arrived in the spring of 2020. I thought it looked kind of neat so I selected a Chuck Iker Steampot pot to plant it in. I thought the color of the leaves and flowers would like nice with the multi-colored pot. The viola was planted and was put on a growing bench on the south side of the house under 30% shade cloth. The viola loved it there and that is where it stayed all summer. The viola was used in the 2020 Rocky Mountain Bonsai Society (RMBS) 51st virtual show and is featured on the clubs website here:  RMBS 2020 51st Bonsai Show. This viola does flower all season long until I had to put it away for the winter in the garage. It seems to be doing fine so far in the garage, I do check on it when winter watering trees/accents plants in the garage. It does produce short runners which drape over the sides of the pot which make it look even cooler.

I highly recommend this viola for use as an accent plant.
