I like making accent plants to go along with Bonsai trees being displayed at a show. I actually like growing them even if they never made it to a Bonsai show. One of my favorite plants to use is Ajuga – Chocolate Chip which is a ground cover type perennial and they have blue flower spikes during the summer. They will trail over the pot if you like that kind of look. I like to use another perennial with this plant. I like to Japanese Painted Ferns or Heartthrob Viola’s to go with them. They both look really good. I usually buy my Ajuga – Chocolate Chip from Lowes during the spring. They sell out really quick and you have to buy them immediately if you find some.

Squirrels like to dig them out of the pots which is pretty much true for all accent plants. They do not survive long after this happens.
