This is my second Mountain Mahogany obtained in the fall of 2017. The branches on this tree were pretty much growing straight up and out. I designed the tree to have movement going to the left side of the tree. I also brought a couple of back branches around the right side of the tree where the deadwood is. I did trim back a couple of pieces of deadwood on this tree to better see the nice trunk.

I think of this tree as a piece of art, a living sculpture. This tree is currently spending the 2017/2018 winter in the Denver Botanic Gardens. It is just now start to produce new leaves. I did add some Plant Tone on the top of the soil today. Plant Tone was recommended by International Bonsai Master Larry Jackel. I did use Plant Tone last year on most of the trees I have and the trees really responded well to it. Plant Tone is an organic fertilizer.

I am thinking about planting this tree in a Steam Punk pot from Chuck Iker.

I will continue to update this page as the tree develops.

The tree was taken to a work shop with International Bonsai Master Bjorn Bjorholm in the summer of 2018. Bjorn basically liked my design and said I should remove one the large branches moving to the left. I did remove this branch as suggested.

I did not put the tree in a steampunk pot, but choose a black/gray pot from Chuck Iker instead.
