Here are some useful tools to help pick the right colored pot for your tree. Conifers usually stay the same color year round. Deciduous trees on the other hand can and do change colors. I try to pick a pot color that either matches the blossoms on a tree or the trees fall colors.

I like to use the Adobe Color program to help find the right color pot for a tree. I import an image of the blossom or fall colors into the system. You can rearrange the 5 colored spots to various spots on the photo to capture the true colors. The middle spot/color is the most important one.  Once that is done you click on the Color Wheel button (upper left) and you will now see a list of standard color wheel applications you can review. Complementary colors for instance are colors that go good together.

Bright Side has a page titled “The Ultimate Color Combinations Cheat Sheet” that will help you better understand the categories shown on the Adobe Color program.

By using both of these aids you should be able to select the right colored pot for your tree.
