I saw this Pinus Ponderosa tree growing in the wild on top of some extremely large granite boulders.  The tree is a testament of its toughness and its will to survive no matter what mother nature did to it. Who knows what tales it could tell if it could only speak to us. Mother nature is still attacking the tree, even the dead branches keep on getting attacked by wind and snow. I can imagine a Mountain Lion using the large gnarly curly branch as a scouting perch to hunt Deer and Elk. This tree is a good example for large dominant branches and fine thinner branches high up in the crown of the tree where no Mountain Lion could ever reach them.

Check out the jin’s that mother nature created on this tree. The newer jin with an orange color to it something that we should try to emulate when creating man made jin. I am not sure it could be duplicated by man. All though International Bonsai Master Larry Jackel could probably come close. Note the older jins on this tree still has some bark attached to it. So does the newer orange colored jin. Bjorn Bjorholm teaches that you should leave some bark on jins.

All in all a great example of a Pinus – Ponderosa growing, surviving against all that mother nature can throw at it.
