I found a really great video on how to kill Yellow Jackets. I have lots of Yellow Jackets around my house, but nothing like the ones in this video. I think a small design would work best at my place. I am hoping it is good for Hornets as well. I did have a large football sized Hornet nest about 3 feet away from the front door. I was very surprised by how fast they fly, much faster then Yellow Jackets. Black and White hornets. I finally found enough courage to spray the nest about 20 feet away from it. Took 4 full cans for Wasp spray to subdue them. I think I am going to try out this design. I have posted the video under Diseases/Insects page.

My first encounter with a Black and Hornet did not end well. I picked up a board around dusk and flipped it over. Starring back at me was the biggest and only hornet I had ever seen. What to do, run, kill it but with what, no fly swatter, doubt that would have worked based on its size, what if I missed? The next thing I knew I summoned up all my strength and nailed the hornet with a brand new stainless steel claw hammer. Good thing I did not miss as I had no back up plan except run! I posted the hornets head on pine needle for all of the other hornets as a warning to stay away!
