HomeUncategorizedColorado Bonsai – Restoring the (Texas) Ponderosa Pines

I was very surprised to learn the state of Texas has native Ponderosa Pines in it. They basically only grow in two areas of western Texas at the highest elevations in the state and in certain growing climates within those areas. I was equally amazed to learn that these Texas Ponderosa trees face the same challenges as the more common Ponderosa Pine trees in the Rocky Mountains. Here is a nice video by Texas A&M Forest Service about trying to save the Texas Ponderosa Pine trees, they are also working with Natures Conservancy to restore the small Ponderosa Pine forests for future generations. This video has been added to the Ponderosa Pine page, under Pine Trees, Conifers and Tree Information pages.
