The Minnesota Bonsai Society has an article titled “Yamadori Junipers With Jim Gremel” that describes Jim’s technique for growing Yamadori junipers using nursery stock seedlings. I have seen some examples of Jim’s fully grown out and styled Shimpaku Junipers that look very much like a collected Yamadori juniper from the wild. This is the first article that basically explains the process. Jim grows his trees in the ground to accelerate growth. I am going to try this  process out in the spring.
