Eastern Leaf has a great video titled “Bonsai Gardens : The Bonsai Garden at Lake Merritt“. I love this video for several reasons: The design of the garden, the trees themselves, watch for the Lincoln tree (Quercus Dentata Daimyo Oak), it does not look like they use lime sulfer on the Junipers?, the watering system is something I have not seen in use anywhere. I like how there watering the trees. Copper Tubing is being used and maneuvered around individual trees, the tubing is snaked through the trees to water the tree at just the right spot. The overhead copper tubing and sprinklers are another great idea. I am not sure how well this would work in an area with high winds. Solution would be to water manually on these days or check on the trees to see if you need to water by hand. That is something that was mentioned on the video to. Watch the entire video to see different variations on watering the trees. I have added this video to the Watering Bonsai Page and the Shows/Museums/Botanic Gardens page.
