Capital Bonsai has a 2 part article on Suiseki or Viewing Stones titled “Magic from Earth & Water (Part 1) & (Part 2). Part 1 of the article is about Chinese Viewing stones and Part 2 of the article is about American Viewing Stones. I noticed something in Part 1 where they are using what appears to be a wood sculpture. The article says its a Rattan Vine and its called a Chinese Scholar’s Object. International Bonsai Master Larry Jackel has been talking using similar objects in our Bonsai club. I have added the articles to the Suiseki page.
