Colorado Bonsai – Over Watered Trees and A HOW TO ON H2O2
I recently watered my Lantana Bonsai and left it in the bucket to soak for about 15 minutes and forgot about it for around 6 hours. Well, the tree looked fine for about 24 hours and then took a nose dive with wilting leaves, all of them. I have been trying to let it dry out and was misting the leaves. The tree has not responded at all. I did find a nice article on using Hydrogen Peroxide to try to revive over watered plants. The article was on a Marijuana grow board and I believe they want visitors to freely use the information. So I created a new page titled “Over Watered Trees/Plants and A How To H202“, under Bonsai Basics. I am currently trying to save the tree using the information in the article. I did do something slightly different. I filled up my bucket with the recommended dosage of Hydrogen Peroxide and Root Stimulator then placed the tree into the bucket until all air bubbles stopped. I removed the tree and put it back on its stand. I did it this way because International Bonsai Master Harold Sasaki recommends dunking Bonsai trees in water and then pulling them out. The purpose being that Oxygen is then pulled down into the soil by the water draining out of the pot.
I have found numerous posts on Hydrogen Peroxide saving plants that were over watered, but I really don’t know if it works or not. I have no idea how this is going to turn out, but I will keep you posted on it.
