I have created this page to bring attention to the Emerald Ash Borer and to document Ash Bonsai Trees.
There is a native Ash in the western 4 corner states called a (Fraxinus anomala – “Single Leaf Ash“, the tree does indeed have 1 leaf instead of the compound leaves normally seen on Ash trees. I have two of the trees under development and highly recommend them for Bonsai. I have made a page for my first tree which is now pretty much along in its development. Please click on link above to see the page.
This beetle was discovered on the east coast a number of years ago and has been making its way west. It arrived in the Denver metro area a few years ago and has started killing of Ash trees.
Colorado is home to the Single Leaf Ash (Fraxinus anomala) tree which makes very good Bonsai. I actually have a couple trees underdevelopment and will make a post when I get to the trees. Right now they are in hibernation.
Here are a couple of videos that are really educational and should help with your landscape trees or if you just happen to have an Ash Bonsai tree.
I have used the product in the last video with good results. Just follow the directions on the bottle. I would recommend 2 applications, one in the spring and one in the fall. It is really easy to do and will protect your trees.
