This is my second Quercus Grisea – Gray Oak Bonsai and it is a Shohin sized tree. The measures 7″ tall and 8″ wide. Every time I walk by the tree I have to marvel on just how tough this little tree is. The tree is growing in some type of narrow plastic mesh basket. There is hardly any room for soil in the basket. This year I did take some photos of the tree before it budded out and they will be shown below. The leaves on this little tree are much smaller then Gray Oak #1, their actually vert tiny for an oak tree. The tree is budding out all over the branches and I will soon have new branches growing all over increasing the ramification by four times. It even has a few Oak flowers on it. The deadwood is really incredible for such a small tree and that is its best feature. I need to find a pot for this little guy. The tree was styled for the first time in 2019.

New 07-03-2020:
This tree grew a bunch of new branches this spring and I allowed them to grow where ever they wanted. I let the new branches harden off and then I re-styled the whole tree. I also slip potted the tree into a Chuck Iker light yellow oval pot with gray volcanic treatment on the pot. I thought the pot and tree looked good together. I also applied moss to the tree using my moss technique. It does have some very tiny acorns on it. I will leave this tree alone until next year which I may or may not do anything. Probably just try to increase the ramification.
