HomeUncategorizedColorado Bonsai – The Gift of Bonsai: A Lifetime of Living Art

The University of Michigan has a video out titled “The Gift of Bonsai: A Lifetime of Living Art” which interviews alumnus Mel Goldstein. He is planning on donating his collection to the University. Mel’s tree are  nice but it was his benches that caught my eye. It looks like Mel made some very long metal trays that look to hold pebbles or something else in them and the trees set on top of the pebbles. I am assuming there is water in the tray. This might be a good way to help Bonsai trees growing in semi-arid areas of the country. Another good idea I saw to bungee cord the trees down to the wood stands. I have raccoons that knock trees off the bench as well as high winds, it might be time to try this to.
