HomeUncategorizedColorado Bonsai – Mistletoe Arceuthobium spp. – Parsitic Plants

Mistletoe might bring you memories of kissing a loved under the overhanging mistletoe. However Mistletoe for a Bonsai artist might mean your tree is dying. Before collecting wild trees you might want to study up on what Mistletoe is and what it looks like. If your going to buy a wild “yamadori” tree you should know what Mistletoe is and what it looks like. Do not buy a tree with Mistletoe on it, its to big a risk as it will probably die on you. I think it would be best to leave a tree with mistletoe on it right where you found it and look for some thing else with out mistletoe. I have added a new page dedicated to 5 different species of Mistletoe common in the Western US. I have added this new page to the Diseases/Insects page under Bonsai Basics page to.
